MA-Only Medicare Advantage Plan Designed with Veterans in Mind

Low or $0 monthly plan premium*, Part B Premium Reduction Giveback benefits, routine dental, vision, hearing, additional providers outside the VA & community care network — offered through Humana & UnitedHealthcare

Two Systems. Zero Conflicts. Reduced Out-of-Pocket Medicare Covered Medical Expenses with Additional Benefits Not Covered by Original Medicare.

Medicare Advantage plans like Humana USAA Honor and UnitedHealthcare AARP Patriot are designed with veterans in mind and seamlessly work alongside your current VA benefits. These plans are open to all Medicare beneficiaries that qualify.

Since these MA-Only Medicare Advantage plans were designed with veterans in mind, you don’t need a separate prescription drug plan offered through Part D. You would continue to use your Tricare For Life (Express Scripts Drug Plan), CHAMPVA for dependents, if applicable (Express Scripts Drug Plan), and/or VA prescription drug benefit. Typically, plans from Humana and UnitedHealthcare may include low or $0 monthly plan premium products, benefits not covered by Original Medicare like routine dental, vision, hearing, and Part B Premium Reduction Giveback benefits.

You can keep using your VA benefits just like you always have while gaining access to non-VA providers and additional benefits not covered by the VA or Original Medicare.

The Part B Premium Reduction Giveback benefit is not immediate. It may take 90–120 days to be reflected on your Social Security statement. The beneficiary will have less taken from their Social Security check for the coverage of their Part B premium. Those paying their Part B premium directly will see this benefit as a credit on their premium statement. The giveback amount may change based on the amount you pay for Part B.

Your VA healthcare, disability rating, and covered prescriptions are not affected when you choose to enroll in an MA-Only Medicare Advantage plan.

Common Questions

Honest Questions, Honest Answers

These are the answers to the most-asked questions.

No. Enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan has no effect on your VA disability rating, VA healthcare eligibility, or your VA prescription drug benefits. Medicare Advantage is a part of the Medicare program and is separate from your VA benefits. When you choose to enroll, Medicare Advantage health plan benefits are in addition to your VA benefits and not a replacement of those benefits.
If enrolled, you pay a monthly Medicare Part B premium (currently $185/month for most people in 2026). A Medicare Advantage plan with the Part B Premium Reduction Giveback benefit may reduce that amount, and the savings will be reflected in the amount you receive from Social Security. Giveback amount is paid by the carrier, where available, and varies by plan.

*Giveback is not immediate. It may take one or more payment cycles to reflect on your SSA statement. The Part B Premium Reduction Giveback benefit means the beneficiary will have less taken from their Social Security check for the coverage of their Part B premium. Those paying their Part B premium directly will see this benefit as a credit on their premium statement. The giveback amount may change based on the amount you pay for Part B. A check is not physically cut reflecting this giveback, nor do you receive the amount back in an allowance card or other cash equivalent.
The consultation is free and there is absolutely no obligation to enroll. Enrollment in a plan is not automatic and the consultation will not affect your current benefits. Grace Rose Health will review your VA and Medicare benefits during your consultation and will explain which Medicare Advantage plans are available in your area. If you qualify and decide that adding a Medicare Advantage plan makes sense for you, Grace Rose Health can assist you with your enrollment. No pressure, no tricks, no catch.
Yes. Medicare Advantage plans like the Humana USAA Honor plan are available to anyone who is a Medicare beneficiary or Medicare eligible. If your spouse is Medicare-eligible or currently enrolled in Medicare, they may be able to enroll in the same type of plan or any other Medicare Advantage plan that is available in their area — even if they are not a veteran. Certain restrictions, enrollment periods, or other qualifying events may apply.
Grace Rose Health Consultants proudly represents both Humana and UnitedHealthcare, which are leaders in the management and delivery of healthcare.

From a Veteran Who’s Been There

LTC Forrest H. Gibbes (Ret.) — Licensed Insurance Agent Specializing in Medicare

You’re Not Talking to a Salesman. You’re Talking to a Fellow Veteran.

Forrest Gibbes is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel who continues to serve his fellow Brothers and Sister-In-Arms — with a combined 30+ years of service, specifically with the U.S. Army. He specializes in employee benefits and retirement planning, helping soldiers and federal employees navigate complex systems like Civil Service Retirement, pension maximization, survivor annuities, and Social Security.

After retiring in 2018, Forrest founded Grace Rose Health Consultants with a simple mission: help veterans understand their Medicare options. He now leads a team of nine licensed insurance agents that specialize in Medicare and personally helps veterans and their spouses understand their Medicare options — the same way he spent three decades helping service members understand their benefits.

He represents both Humana and UnitedHealthcare, so he can match you to the plan that fits your situation — not just one carrier’s product. And because he’s been where you are, he’ll give you a straight answer, not a sales pitch.
